THE WAVES DEVELOPMENT JERSEY

PROJECT DETAIL
‘The Waves’ is a new housing development that will be converted from an existing cottage into ten luxury homes, next to the historic coastal fortification Keppel Martello Tower No. 2 on the Island of Jersey.  The steelwork design was awarded to Keda Structures who have been an established steelwork contractor on the island for over 15 years.

The development of the existing site allows for the new high-quality homes to be built along the Jersey coastline and allows also to reinstate a part of Island history for the public with the restoration of Keppel Tower.

SERVICES DELIVERED
The site itself comprises of four blocks of which we were tasked with delivering the Tekla steelwork modelling and detailing for one. This structural steel frame was partially free standing but also supported from masonry walls which required significant co-ordination utilising the engineer’s drawings to enable us to set out the structure and compare against the architect’s proposal/intent drawings, providing further trade finishes. The utilisation of the Tekla 3D model helped to aid us in the co-ordination of the 2D drawings, as the visualisation of the model pin pointed any conflicting information between trades.

We provided a full fabrication pack once the design had been signed off by the main contractor.  This included all assembly, single part drawings, lists and NC data, which enabled the steel fabricator to produce the fabricated frame ready to be sent to site and installed.  We also provided a set of install drawings for the installation crew to locate the correct item and the location required.
