100% Accuracy in Half the Time

One of the biggest challenges with offsite manufacturing of interior panels is accuracy. As internal spaces are rarely if ever square, steel framing tends to be a lot more precise than the space it is going into, leading to additional time for fitting and cost overruns.

Extending the Possibilities of Steel Framing

Now an innovative Kiwi made steel framing system is bridging the gap between manufacturing and installation. Howick's X-TENDA™ 3600 uses a unique telescopic design to create non-loadbearing panels for retrofit or infill interior walls and ceilings that can achieve a perfect fit in a fraction of the time taken by traditional methods.

Launched in 2020, X-TENDA™ 3600 shaves 50% or more off the time it normally takes to frame interior spaces. All the steel components are pre-assembled, then collapsed for easy transport and handling. Once delivered to the site, they can be easily carried up stairways or loaded into passenger elevators, then quickly expanded and adjusted for an exact fit every time.

The X-TENDA™ system allows for a quick, precise fit even in uneven and non-level spaces with windows and door frames that remain true to size, and the ability to align the new framing with existing windows and openings. Because there is no need for measuring, snipping and cutting onsite, the X-TENDA™ panels mean less wastage and no excess framing to remove at the end of the job - saving on time, labour and materials.

X-TENDA™ framing consists of three key components - a C stud, R stud and U track, all manufactured with Howick's X-TENDA™ 3600 roll forming machine. Because the R stud is slightly smaller than the web and flange, it can slide inside the standard C stud, offering a precise range of adjustment. Panels can be made from any of these components in a range of different configurations.

Panels can be extended upwards and outwards whilst the soffit panels can be screwed to the ceiling and then pulled down to a laser line to be level with the floor below. Soffit panels can also be multi-axis if required.

X-TENDA 3600 framing has been successfully installed in major projects in News Zealand, Australia and the USA; from Westfield's new Two Double Seven shopping complex in Auckland, the Victoria Lane apartments in Wellington, to the Indigo Hotel and Jubilee Hotel in Queensland, and a 100-year old building in downton Boston, Massachusetts.
