Panacea Building Systems is celebrating a well-deserved victory after they received the award of ‘Best Use of Steel Technology’ at the Offsite Awards 2026.
Panacea Building Systems were appointed to deliver the structural steel frame solution, external wall build-up and full internal partitions and ceilings for Downtown Victoria North development, an ambitious £50m Build-to-Rent (BTR) scheme comprising 237 apartments and townhouses across four statement blocks. At the heart of the delivery is an LSF offsite solution.
By manufacturing core components within its controlled factory environment in Altrincham, Panacea bring together an integrated package of light gauge steel frames, hot-rolled steelwork, metal decking, reinforced in-situ concrete floors/roofs, steel staircases and bespoke external wall solutions. This approach not only ensures accuracy and efficiency but also provides clients with a smarter, more predictable construction process, reducing risk while supporting architectural ambition and long-term performance.
The mixed-height development includes two multistorey apartment towers and two townhouse blocks, forming a key part of Manchester’s evolving city-centre regeneration. Panacea Building Systems work demonstrates exceptional capability across structural steel framing, façade preparation and high-quality internal construction, while demonstrating the value of LSF in delivering high quality homes at pace and scale.
The development proves that modern LSF systems can deliver not only sustainable and commercially viable construction, but also highly complex, architecturally driven façades traditionally associated with heavier structural forms. The successful delivery of a 10-storey lightweight steel framed structure incorporating substantial precast architectural features within a prime Manchester city-centre development sets a new benchmark for future residential schemes and demonstrates what can be achieved through innovation, collaboration and engineering excellence.
